Part 2

"Tessa, over here!" "What is it Faren?" "A dragon!" "A dragon? Let me see!" Tessa said running over by her friend. Tessa was now thirty turns old, or fifteen years old. She had no memory of her mother who died so long ago, for she was only one turn old. Her best friend was Faren. He was thirty six turns old, or 18 years old. "Were is it?" "Over there... do you see it?" "Yes, so they are for real." "Of course they are." Tessa pulled out a piece of salted meat. "What are you doing? It can kill you!" "Hush, Faren, you'll scare it away!" The little dragon hopped down off it's perch and snached the meat from her hands. It devoured it like a vulture then looked to her for more. She pulled out another piece and threw it to it. The dragon caught it and ate it. Then it looked to Faren. "Faren, feed it!" "Why should I waste my rations on it!" "Just give it some." Faren sighed and took out a chunk of meat. The dragon ate it quickly. "Well there goes my lunch." "Faren why do you have to be so greedy!" "What? All I ask for is a little salted meat, is that to much to ask?" "Faren, sometimes you act like you are 10 turns old," Tessa joked. Suddenly the little dragon screeched and flew at her. "Tessa, watch out!" Faren yelled as it snatched at her neck. It grabbed her necklace and flew up in a tree. "Tessa, are you ok? Did it hurt you?" "No, just a little scratch.... my necklace! It took my necklace!" "So, what's the deal with the necklace? You never take it off." "It's the only thing that I have from when I was first found. I wore it when I was a child, and I'll wear it until I die, that is if I get it back." The little dragon screeched with delight as it examined the necklace. "Little dragon, please give it back." It dove down at her, and she held out her hand. It carefully dropped it in her hand then flew back up to the tree. She put it back around her neck and looked back at Faren. "It... it... gave it back!" "Just because they don't look like us, doesn't mean they don't understand us." "Uh huh... wait a minute, your chest... didn't you say that you had a scratch?" "Strange, i could have sworn... oh well. We'd better get back, or our learners will be angered with us." "I agree, come on." "Hey, were'd the dragon go?" "It left, like we should before we are scolded." "Coming," Tessa sighed, taking one last glance around for the dragon than ran off to catch up with Faren.
